About J. Helen Burnham

Born in 1932 into an artisitic Dutch family in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, her family moved to Simcoe, Ontario where she was raised.  Helen's artistic ability was certainly influenced by her grandfather and great grandfather who decorated churches and theatres, her two uncles who were mechanical draftsmen and her mother and one aunt who also painted.

Over the years she attended many workshops for oil, watercolour, acrylic and porcelain (china) painting.  She fell in love with china painting, which she taught for 30 years in Guelph, Kitchener and Simcoe.  Helen also worked in an art gallery in Toronto for some time.

Helen's love of flowers and nature is strongly reflected in her multi-disciplined artwork.  Throughout the years she has won numerous awards for her watercolour and porcelain paintings.

Helent currently resides in Guelph, Ontario where she continues to paint on a regular basis as time permits.
